Indiana anaerobic Digestion systems

Indiana has nine operating agricultural digester systems treating manure and other wastes and a couple new systems under development. (Photo: Fair Oaks Dairy digester system I, showing four vertical plug flow anaerobic digesters.)

Indiana has three operating agro-industrial digesters treating grain and poultry processing wastes and other co-digestion wastes, including supermarket food wastes. (Photo: Culver Duck anaerobic digester and three 536.2-HP 2G Cenergy biogas engines).

Indiana has operating anaerobic digester systems to treat sludge and recovery methane at 12 wastewater treatment plants (WWTP). Some of these WWTP use recovered methane for heating or electricity generations. (Photo left: One of the two West Lafayette WWTP anaerobic digesters. Indiana has nine (9) sanitary landfills that are recovering biogas to generate heat and electricity.
