Posters do\u00a0<b>NOT\u00a0<\/b>have to be directly related to the symposium theme, but students should be able to communicate their research succinctly.\u00a0 Posters will be broadly divided into the following categories (but any research topic is welcome):<\/p>\n<p><b>Machine Systems\/Agricultural Systems<\/b><br \/>\nThis category focuses on the design of innovative eco-friendly agricultural equipment, or agricultural practices. These topics include feed processing and handling equipment for animal agriculture, construction and mining, forestry, lawn and ground care, and robotic applications in food and fiber production and processing. Students studying in fields related to agricultural sciences or engineering\u00a0 may be interested in submitting to this category.<\/p>\n<p><b>Biotechnology\/Regulations and Food Processing<\/b><br \/>\nThis category covers a diverse range of topics related to physics, chemistry and biological sciences and engineering to improve processes, handling, storage and quality of production and product development. Innovative design of materials and unit operations used in food, pharmaceutical and biochemical industries are the main stream focus of the field. Additional studies include treatment of food and chemical residues and their suitability to generate byproducts for composting and energy production. Students studying in fields related to food processing, biological, or chemical engineering, or biotechnology may be interested in submitting to this category.<\/p>\n<p><b>Environmental &amp; Natural Resources Engineering\u00a0<\/b><br \/>\nThis category covers a diverse range of topics related to our management of water, air, soil and other resources. A wide research interest encompasses water quality or water resource studies, livestock waste management, water management in agriculture, air or odor studies, ecology or environmental resource studies. Students studying in fields related to environmental sciences or engineering may be interested in submitting to this category.<\/p>\n<p><b>Bio-energy &amp; Biological Engineering<\/b><br \/>\nThis category covers a diverse range of topics related to the development of renewable energy sources. The focus of such research can include feedstock development and logistics, processing and conversion technology, microbiological engineering, process economics, environmental impact analysis, or transportation systems design. A few prominent examples of bio-energy are ethanol, biodiesel, biogas, or photosynthetic fuel cells. Students studying in fields related to renewable energy studies or engineering may be interested in submitting to this category.<\/p>\n<h2>Definition of a Poster Session<\/h2>\n<p>A Poster Session advertises your research. It combines text and graphics to make a visually pleasing presentation. Typically, a professional poster involves showing your work to numerous researchers at a conference or seminar. This can take place in one large room, several smaller rooms, or even on a balcony. Then, as viewers walk by, your poster should quickly and efficiently communicate your research. Unlike the fast pace of a slide show or verbal presentation, a Poster Session allows viewers to study and restudy your information and discuss it with you one on one. You may also be required to give short presentations on your research every ten or fifteen minutes.<\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\">Guidelines<\/h2>\n<p>A successful poster is not created overnight. Preparing a well-organized, visually-pleasing poster requires you to plan well in advance. First, consider your audience and what type of poster you&#8217;ll create. Next, gather your supplies and decide what information to include. From this point, create the text and graphics.
