Jan 01: Dr. Yu received a supplemental 16,503 GPU hours on PSC Bridges-2 from Access (NSF funded) to continue the resarch project entitled "New Self-regulating LES Model for Turbulent Pulsatile Flows with Applications and Uncertainty Quantification". This computation award values $5,875. Congratulations!
2023
December 19: A collaborative research paper, entitled Effects of donor-specific microvascular anatomy on hemodynamic perfusion in human choriocapillarison, was published in Scientific Reports . Congratulations!
December 15: Mini-Symposium 192 - Kinetic-based Computational Fluid Dynamics for Continuum and Rarefied Flows of The 9th European Congress on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences and Engineering (ECCOMAS) received 19 abstracts. Together with two intenrational collbaorators, Dr. Yu serves as the leading organizer of the minisyposium. The conference will be held in Lisboa, Portugal in June 2024. Congratulations!
December 8: Weichen passed the preliminary exam of his PhD program. He is now a PhD candiate. Congrtulations!
December 7: Dr. Yu was invited to serve as a member of Scientific Committee for the International Conference on Transformative Technologies for Mechanical, Automotive and Space Applications’’ (ICTTMASA-2024) at Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT) , Pune, India on June 21-22 2024. ICTTMASA-2024 is jointly organized by SIT and Space Society of Mechanical Engineers (SSME) , SAC, ISRO Ahmedabad.

October 17-20: Dr. Yu and Xiaoyu attended The Symposium on "Flow, Turbulence, and Wind Energy" in celebration of Charles Meneveau’s 60 + x birthday in Hotel Caribe Hilton, San Juan, Puerto Rico.
October 11: Matthew passed the Math area exam for his PhD program. Plus the two other courses he passed earlier, Matthew has moved to the next stage of his PhD program. Congradulations!
September 26: Dr. Yu lead and submitted a mini-symposium proposla,entiled "Kinetic-based Computational Fluid Dynamics for Continuum and Rarefied Flows" to The 9th European Congress on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences and Engineering (ECCOMAS) that will be held in Lisboa, Portugal, June 2024. The proposal got accpted and assigned as MS 192.
August 23: A paper entitled "GPU accelerated volumetric lattice Boltzmann model for image-based hemodynamics in portal hypertension" was published in Computers and Fluids.
July 5: Dr. Yu did an oral presentation, entitled "A Pulsatile Flow Loop to Measure Blood Pressure in Stenosed Huamn Arteries", on The 20th International Conference on Experimental Mechanics Applications in Materials Science, Engineering and Biomechanics(ICEM20), Porto, Portugal.
June 29: A paper entitled "A Human-sized Mock Circulation Loop for in vitro Hemodynamic Characterization of Vascular Diseases" was published in Fluids.
May 30: Dr. Yu did an invited Plenary Lecture, entitled "Image-based and GPU-Accelerated Computational Hemodynamics For Medical Applications", on The 34th International Conference on Parallel Computational Fluid Dynamics (ParCFD2023), Cuenca, Ecuador.
April 6: Dr. Yu invited Prof. Arezoo Ardekani from School of Mechanical Engineering, Purdue University, to give a talk entitled "Determining stress from experimental flow measurements of viscoelastic fluids" in the MEE Graduete Seminar Series.
April 5: Drs. Yu and Sawchuk filed a provisional patent application to US PTO entitled METHODS OF PRODUCING THREE-DIMENSIONAL ARTERIAL MORPHOLOGICAL GEOMETRIES USING DUPLEX-ULTRASOUND BRIGHTNESS-MODE IMAGES

December 27: Prof. Yu's US patent (#11538153), entitled Non-invasive Functional Assessment Technique for Determining Hemodynamics Severity of an Arterial Stenosis, is officilally issued by USPTO. Congratulations!
December 26: Matthew and his wife embrace their first child, a lovly baby girl. Congratulations!
December 17-20: Austin Zan, a high school sophomore from Auburn High School, visited our lab and started to work for a research project on 3-d construction of arterial geometry from ultrsound cine looped DICOM videos.

November 20: Xiaoyu received $800 Travel Fellowship Award from IUPUI Gradueate Office to support her paticipation of The Eleventh International Conference on Computational Fluid Dynamics (ICCFD11). Congratulations, Xiaoyu! .
October 21: Prof. Jun Chen of Purdue University visited IFD lab and started to co-supervise Mr. Weichen Hong together with Prof. Yu for a professional developement of the pulsatile flow loop for various medical related measurements.
October 2: Drs. Yu, Du, and Sawchuk (MD, Vascular Surgeon, IU School of Medicine), received a 1-year seed grant from Institute of Integrative AI of IUPUI, entitled "A New and Non-invasive Modality to Characterize Hemodynamic Parameters and Flow Patterns for Severe Asymptotic Carotid Stenoses" in the amount of $25,000.

July 25: Xiaoyu received a travel support of $750 from the Organization Committee of The Eleventh International Conference on Computational Fluid Dynamics (ICCFD11). Congratulations, Xiaoyu!
