After tonight's automated software distribution, GCC version 6.1.0 will be installed on all ECN RHEL6 hosts. This is installed as a link to the copy on the package disk. It does not include links to standard paths to avoid conflicts with system packages.

Both vps9 and vlm2 will be moving from rhea to the ECN VMware cluster after 18:00 tonight. This is in preparation for Saturday's power outage and rhea's decommissioning.
vps9 will experience minimal downtime during its transition to the cluster.
vlm2 will be down for approximately one to two hours for migration and up and down post-migration, as it needs extensive patching. This will affect the software listed at Windows License Servers KB (scroll down to the VLM2 section).
Updates will be sent to the ecnstaff list with syslogs sent at completion of the moves and patching. Please let me know if you have any questions.

The policy for ARMS 2106 has been modified to use print spools on ecnprint03.itap.purdue.edu for arms2106p1, p2. Clients should see changes within 90 minutes or following a reboot.
A new group policy was created for the South Bend 235 Lab location to deploy its printer (sb235-p1). Clients should see this change within 90 minutes or following a reboot.

(1) Added support for Office 2016 user toolbar customizations, Excel analysis add-in, and Excel auto-recover path.
(2) Added begin and end time stamps for logoff script.
(3) Sort lists of mapped printers in the logoff log and in the user restore script.

Disk in mirrored set failed on IDSwipe.ecn.purdue.edu. An unexpected interaction between the failed disk and controller prevented the system from booting. Once the failed disk was replaced the system booted as expected and is rebuilding the mirrored disk set.

Curtis reported that maillist.ecn was down. I investigated, and found that a power cord had come loose.
Plugged it back in, and the machine returned to service.

The policy for ARMS 2106 was modified to reflect replaced printers in the lab (now using arms2106p1, p2 for deployment). Clients should see changes within 90 minutes or following a reboot.
A new Core Apps Task Sequence has been advertised to new deploys. Changes implemented:
1. Office 2016 replaces Office 2013.
2. Firefox 45.1.0esr replaces Firefox 38.2.1esr.
The Windows 7 Deployment KB has been updated to reflect these changes, as well: Windows 7 Deployment KB

Effective immediately, ClamAV verison 0.99.2 was installed on all Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 hosts. The previous version was 0.99.1.
ClamAV is a virus scanner application. It is used by the ECN mail servers to scan incoming e-mail. This update includes a set of bug fixes and enhancements.
