During the Fall semester of 2005, the University Visual Arts Committee attended the biannual exhibit of student artwork at Westwood. From a wide selection of student art ranging from unique utensils to large-scale paintings, the committee chose five pieces.
The committee chose two color photographs - “Advertising Clutter” by Photography/Advertising senior Deanna Doll and “Flying Solo” by fellow Photography student Marc Lebryk, also a senior. The two photographs have different subject matter and styles, but similar sizes and compositions, making them a nice pair for hanging in a classroom.
Another pair of complementary works comes from Whitney Korstange. The committee purchased two of Whitney’s relief prints. Both are similar in subject and scale, but vary in tone.
The final purchase made by the Visual Arts Committee is a brightly colored silkscreen print by Lauren Huskins, a junior studying Fine Art.
All of these pieces will be placed in Purdue University buildings for permanent public display as a part of the “Art on Campus” program.
