The Visual Arts Committee has completed its acceptance of entries for the 2005 Art on Campus Competition as of August 15th. This open competition will place one or more pieces of two-dimensional art (or 3-dimensional artwork up to 2 inches deep) on the Purdue University West Lafayette campus. There are no restrictions on media; however, the works must be suitable for classroom setting and interaction with campus visitors.

The committee was grateful to have received over 175 submissions from artists located around the country, including a few from outside of the United States. The works submitted varied in style and media, including woven fibers, neon sculptures, and traditional paintings.

The members of the UVAC will be meeting before the end of September to make initial selections. The selected artists will be contacted for further discussion. The committee will then select one artist, and choose to either purchase an existing work or a commission a new piece specifically for Purdue University.
