Intangible Series
Art In The Classroom Installation 2002-2003

Artist's Statement

In my most recent series of prints entitled the "Intangible Series," I have used symbolic abstract forms to communicate emotion, conflict, and love. With the intention of communicating love, all of the forms have been created in reference to the shape of a traditional heart. Some of these forms reference organic forms, such as the leaves of plants. However, each form has a symbolic quality meant to contain or be contained by some unexplainable feeling or emotion. In the same way, the heart entraps life-sustaining fluids, and is itself entrapped within the body. "Emergence" is an extension of the thoughts placed within the "Intangible Series." The tall and narrow shape of the piece is meant to surround the viewer. Allowing them to become amerced in an environment of pure emotion. This is a very spiritual piece for me, symbolizing a want and need for spiritual growth.
