Patrick Gee is the assistant director for Engineering Student Success at Purdue University in Indianapolis. With a mechanical engineering background and more than 25 years of combined academic and industry experience, he brings deep expertise in engineering education, student development and industry engagement.
Gee, also a lecturer in Indianapolis, has led numerous university-based initiatives to inspire middle and high school students to pursue engineering and technology majors and careers. As a faculty member, he teaches accredited engineering courses for various engineering majors, including structured programming and three-dimensional modeling. He has also served as principal investigator on multiple grants supporting student engagement, applied research and programs that connect students directly with industry partners.
Gee has collaborated extensively with community and education partners — including Indianapolis Public Schools, Upward Bound, the Minority Engineering Program of Indianapolis and the Center for Leadership Development — to raise awareness of engineering pathways for students and families.
Before transitioning fully into higher education, he developed an industry perspective through manufacturing engineering roles at Allison Transmission and process engineering projects at Praxair, experience that now informs his work in building education partnerships between universities and industry.
Gee is a recipient of multiple teaching and faculty excellence awards and has taught engineering courses across several institutions, including Purdue, Columbus, Butler University and Indiana University. He earned both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in mechanical engineering from Purdue University.
