Hazardous Waste Management

Use this survey to assess the risk to water quality posed by your hazardous waste management practices. The following list of hazardous wastes are commonly found on the farmstead. Consider how you manage each of these waste products and score your answer accordingly. Refer to Fact Sheet 5 for more information on hazardous waste management.

Scoring:

If you dump the product on the ground, pour it into your septic system, burn it on the farm or put it in "your own landfill," the score is 1.
If you use up the product, recycle the waste, take the waste to a collection day or take the waste to a landfill, the score is 3.
