The figure below shows post-test scores (black line, left axis) and reliability (Cronbach's alpha; gray, right). Data are aggregate across courses for eight semesters, with participant counts denoted by n = xx. The results are relatively constant across time. Pre-test scores are generally ~10% below the post-test scores listed. Low gains are similar to findings on the Force Concept Inventory for courses which utilize traditional lecture-based instruction. Courses with primarily engineering and mathematics majors have higher scores than those of other majors (e.g. social science). It is unclear if this is due to differences in mathematics experience or peculiarities of the test itself.
