The CubeSat will be following the cargo ship to the International Space Station (ISS) approximately <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spacex.com\/launches\/mission\/?missionId=crs-30\">38 hours into launch<\/a>. SNOOPI will be launched from ISS shortly after arrival. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Garrison&nbsp;expects SNOOPI&nbsp;will show whether &#8220;signals of opportunity&#8221; (SoOp) can be effective alternatives to radar systems that transmit and read back their own signal.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This proof-of-concept mission follows from decades of Garrison\u2019s work. He performed some of the earliest research on signals of opportunity. He was also on the science team for NASA\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/cygnss\/the-science-of-cygnss\">Cyclone Global Navigation Satellite System (CYGNSS) mission<\/a>, which used this technique to measure wind speed over oceans.
