According to Tim, “After seeing many different colleges during my college search, I felt the program at Purdue would fit me the best. The Co-Op program to me is the best opportunity available for undergrads.

I work for Duke Energy in a coal-fired power plant in Terre Haute. The station grosses over 1000 MW's and was built in the 50's. My employer made it very easy for me to start work and feel comfortable. Almost everyone will take the time to answer my questions and help me understand how the machinery and systems work. One of the cool things I got to do was crawl around in the boiler and inspect it for tube leaks and other problems. I feel that I have a significant advantage over students who have not been Co-Ops. I have already been out on my own and gained practical experience that I could not learn in school. I even practical knowledge that helps in the classes I take on campus."
