The academic excellence of Purdue Online Learning, College of Engineering, was on display during its “Awareness Week”, Oct. 9-12, which showcased its new name and online program offerings at Wang Hall. The event was open to faculty, students, staff and the public-at-large.
This celebratory week highlighted Purdue Online Learning’s continued excellence in its programs and its new dimensions in lifelong learning opportunities.
To kick off the week’s series of events, Purdue Online Learning featured opening remarks by Purdue President Mitch Daniels, John A. Edwardson Dean of the College of Engineering, Mung Chiang and Executive Vice President for Purdue Online, Gerry McCartney.
The message was unified in championing Purdue Online Learning with its value of online education and its vital collaboration with other campus units and industry. Such collaboration is making it possible in adding two online programs, the “Additive Manufacturing” certification and the “Design for Security” badge.
The emphasis was also on integrating top-tier faculty, giving them wider opportunities to continuously develop stimulating and innovative ways to educate and nurture professionals across the globe, wherever they are. Online faculty had an opportunity to engage with attendees in a panel session, discussing their experiences with teaching online. Attendees also had opportunities to tour the department, production rooms, and view exhibits.
The successful week was well attended and was integral in bringing awareness of available online programs. Showcasing Purdue Online Learning, as a valued partner of the College of Engineering, brought to light its overall value of Purdue’s academic excellence as its catalyst for success online.
