Material Flow Systems Planning
Learning Objective:(1) to acquaint students with the concepts of material flow systems in manufacturing and logistics, (2) to learn optimization modeling and analyses of material flow systems, and (3) to understand material flow integration issues.
Description:Analyses of material flows in manufacturing and logistics systems. Material flow structures, physical assets and operational decisions influencing system performance. Optimization modeling and analyses of material flow systems. This course replaces IE 58300. Credit cannot be taken for both this course and IE 58300.
Topics Covered:Design and analysis of material flows in manufacturing and logistics systems; Emphasis is given to problem-based modeling.
Prerequisites:Knowledge of facilities design and production control through formal coursework or exposure in an industrial setting.

Homework:Homeworks will be assigned as needed. The maximum number of homeworks is 4. The homework is 8% of the final grade. Submission instructions will be specified in the homework sheet. Homework will be accepted via email (email address to be announced in class).
Exams:Four 50 minute take-home exams. The four exams make up 92% of the final grade.
