Learning Objective:
Students completing this course will understand the current and emerging capabilities and models, and know how to apply them in projects and research.

Description:
The study of the theoretical foundation and relevance of advanced computer and communication methods in the planning and control of distributed, global production, logistics, and service systems. Topics include CCT (collaborative control theory); Active protocols for wireless sensor networks; RFID and e-Collaboration for supply networks; Error and conflict prognostics in robotics and CAD.

Topics Covered:
A. Manufacturing/supply e-Collaborative systems and communication networks. B. Design of communication and active interaction protocols. C. Synchronization, recovery in decentralized systems with wireless networking D. Wireless communication for planning and decision support E. Parallel processing and distributed databases F. Reasoning and logic for planning and control G. Computer-supported collaboration and integration models H. Wireless communication in e-Work, e-Mfg., and e-Business I. Workflow models and multi-agent systems

Prerequisites:
Graduate student in engineering; Programming is NOT required
