IE58000 - Systems Simulation

Fall 2018

Days/Time: TBA / TBA
Credit Hours: 3

Learning Objective:
After taking the course, students should be able to construct simulation model and conduct appropriate analysis to solve real-world problems.

Description:
The course should be considered as an introductory course to various simulation modeling techniques and analysis methods (see below). The emphasis will be on application. Three-Four projects will be assigned.

Topics Covered:
Spreadsheet simulation, Arena, Agent-based simulation (if time allows). Variation reduction technique. Experimental design. Input modeling, Output analysis.

Prerequisites:
Undergraduate stochastic process and statistic courses are required (IE 336 and 330 or their equivalent, no exception will be made). The student also needs to have basic programming skills and experience (for example, Matlab).

Applied/Theory: 60/40
