Learning Objective:
Students will develop an understanding of the strategic tradeoffs associated with global operations, and the importance of supply chain management on the competitiveness of organizations. Through this course, the student will be able to: 1) Relate course concepts to current management practices and issues. 2) Use critical thinking strategies to analyze case studies. 3) Develop an international Operations Management strategic vision. 4) Define business strategies to create competitive advantages for organizations. 5) Develop an analytical vision of the Supply Chain Management scenarios.

Description:
This course provides an overview of the design, control, and improvement of manufacturing and service productions systems. Topics include operations strategy, product design and process selection, quality management and statistical process control, materials requirements planning, lean thinking, theory of constraints, service delivery and service quality, and global supply chain management.

Topics Covered:
Operations Strategy and Managing Change; Logistic and Supply Chain Strategy; Supply Chain Design; Planning and Controlling the Supply Chain.

Prerequisites:
Purdue STAT 511.

Homework:
This course will use a combination of case discussions, readings, quizzes, assignments, case reports and final examination to determine your overall grade.
