We are excited to announce that the Park Lab has been awarded funding from the Heartland Children’s Nutrition Collaborative, supported by the Ricks Family Foundation, to study the role of nutrition in pediatric liver metabolism (https://medicine.iu.edu/blogs/pediatrics/inaugural-heartland-childrens-nutrition-collaborative-awards). In collaboration with Dr. Brian DeBosch at Indiana University School of Medicine, this project will leverage bioengineered liver organoids-on-a-chip to investigate how nutritional inputs influence liver metabolism and the development of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) in children. By developing an organoid model of pediatric liver function, our research aims to provide a translational platform for studying pediatric metabolic disease and developing potential therapeutic strategies.
