Paper Submission

Due to many requests, the due date for submission of proposals has been extended to March 1st, 2010 (due by 11:59pm EST). If you have submitted a proposal already and wish to update and resubmit the proposals, you may do so.

Presentation Proposals:
Potential summit participants will be asked to submit a 2-page (maximum 1,000 words) proposal. Two types of papers will be accepted:
  • Empirical Research Category
    • Research of Preschool-12 student learning
    • Research on teacher education and professional development
    • Research on engineering literacy and public perceptions
  • Practitioner Category
    • Reflection/Position statement by teachers
    • Reflection/Position statement by engineers
    • Reflection/Position statement by policymakers
“Research in Progress” Proposals:
Authors can consider submitting a “research in progress” proposal. If the proposal is accepted, the author(s) can then develop it as a full paper as an option. There is no limitation, but the maximum words should be 1000 words.

Important for Authors
All proposals and papers must be submitted online to this website as a PDF format with letter-sized paper with “Times New Roman” at 12 point font single spaced. It is recommended that you use the formatting guidelines that will be required for your submission. Download guidelines (pdf).

Your paper should be formatted in PDF format for letter-sized paper. Submissions must be viewable by Adobe Acrobat Reader (version 4.0 or higher).

All proposals and papers will go through a blind review and the following should be addressed:
·In the Empirical Research Category: (a) theoretical framework, (b) literature review, (c) research questions, (d) methodological considerations, (e) results and (f) interpretation.
·In the Practitioner Category: (a) audience, (b) scope of paper, (c) main claims or positions, (d) connection to existing literature on policy, theory, or synthesis of Preschool-12 Engineering and Design
