Course Administration

  • If a question is answered in lecture or on Blackboard, the instructor will not answer the same question again. Please attend lectures and check Blackboard.
  • Course Format: In this Internet era, everyone can watch many hours of videos about almost any topic. Why should anyone sit in a room listening to a person talking? How can a "university" give students something that on-line video cannot give? There are actually several benefits to coming to class:
    • The first is the chance of interaction. You cannot ask questions to a video player.
    • The second is collaboration. You can talk to classmates and exchange ideas. This is difficult when you sit in front of a computer alone.
    • The third and perhaps the most important is the chance to ask questions that are not directly related to the course materials and the instructor can respond based on knowledge outside the course. Drawing knowledge from many different sources is beyond the capability of today's computers.

How can you take advantage of this learning environment? Participate in the discussion.

  • Exam Dates: to be announced (3 x midterm exams in evenings, 1 x final exam)
  • Review Sessions: 6-7PM Tuesday in EE117. Attendance is encouraged. Please bring your questions.
  • If you have a class-related question, please post your questions in Blackboad discussion. Your questions will be answered sooner since more people, including your classmates, may be able to help you. Send emails for only pesonal issues. Please do not send email to the instructor or the teaching assistants.
