Unlike normal laser-based methods of delivering molecules to biological cells, which use high power densities to puncture holes in a single cell, this patent describes a novel laser-based method that delivers molecules to multiple cells simultaneously with lower power density.  This design could provide a higher throughput for optically guided molecular delivery with improved cell viability.
