Dr. Kim participated in the conversation on exploring capacity building in nuclear energy-related skills, businesses, and policies in an event during the 37th African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, jointly held by NEA with the OECD Development Centre and the African Commission on Nuclear Energy (AFCONE)

As numerous African governments envision nuclear energy as an important part of their future energy strategies, the NEA is increasingly engaged in discussions with them on how to help build sustainable economic development. During the 37th African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the NEA jointly held an event with the OECD Development Centre and the African Commission on Nuclear Energy (AFCONE) to explore capacity building in nuclear energy-related skills, businesses, and policies. The event was part of a new Common Journey initiative, which is designed to support African countries that choose to develop safe and sustainable nuclear energy programmes with a focus on building co-operative frameworks among ministries, universities and private industry to enhance skills and opportunities.
