Heat Sink Designer - Help

Drawing Fins

  • Click the DRAW FINS button to enter drawing mode
  • Select the desired fin thickness from the palette (0.5mm to 10mm)
  • Click and drag within the blue dashed Fin Design Space to draw a fin
  • Fins will automatically snap to the baseplate if drawn within it
  • Auto-Connect: When drawing near an existing fin or baseplate surface (within 3mm), your new fin endpoint will automatically snap for guaranteed connection
  • A green circle indicates when you're snapping to an existing fin segment or the baseplate surface
  • You can draw fins in any orientation (vertical, horizontal, diagonal)

Thermal Analysis

  • Configure boundary conditions in the Thermal Settings panel on the right
  • Click Calculate Thermal Profile to solve the heat distribution
  • Results show max temperature, input power, mass, and Figure of Merit (FOM)
  • FOM = Power / (ΔT × Mass) - higher is better

Exporting

  • Export B&W PNG: Saves current design view
  • Export SVG: Vector graphics file
  • Export STL: 3D model file for simulation or 3D printing
