Purdue professor emeritus, alumnus, Dr. John R. Radavich passes away

We are deeply saddened to share that Dr. John R. Radavich, an MSE alum, and longtime faculty member in the School, passed away on November 29, 2019. His contributions to the school will live on in perpetuity, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time

Janelle Wharry selected to receive early career funding from the Department of Energy

Assistant Professor (by courtesy), Janelle Wharry, is one of 73 scientists selected to receive early career funding from the Department of Energy (DOE). Her project, “Irradiation Tailoring of Deformation-Induced Phase Transformations” looks at how irradiation impacts the deformation-induced martensitic transformation in face centered cubic (fcc) metals.

MSE Graduate Student, Baishakhi Bose awarded

MSE Graduate Student, Baishakhi Bose received one of the five poster awards at the 10th Advances in Cement-Based Materials organized by The American Ceramic Society. The conference was hosted by University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign from June 16-18, 2019. Her poster was titled “Influence of Silica-Polyacrylamide Hydrogel Particles on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Internally Cured Cement Paste”. Baishakhi is working under the supervision of Professor Kendra Erk.
