His project is Investigation of Dynamic Processes in Energetic Materials by Ultrafast Transmission Electron Microscopy at the Nanoscale.  As part of his Young Investigator Program, ProfessorOrtalan is focused on developing world-class microscopy research tools that can be used to solve some of the most challenging, cutting edge materials problems today.  His development of ultrafast TEM with femtosecond time resolution in conjunction with atomic resolution TEM work is creating a unique facility at Purdue for collaborative work in material’s, chemistry, physics, and a wide range of engineering disciplines.
