MSE 499 Research in Materials Engineering

Credit and hours by arrangement.

MSE 499 is an elective course.

Weekly Schedule: Three 50-minute lectures.

Course Description: Available upon prior approval of, and arrangement with, a faculty research advisor.

Relation of Course to Program Outcomes
(2)  an ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to develop engineering judgment through the analysis and interpretation of data.

Goals
This course provides the opportunity for laboratory and/or library research beyond the scope of the ordinary undergraduate curriculum, working in a research environment under the direct guidance of a faculty member.

Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course the student is expected to:
* know laboratory skills beyond those taught in the core undergraduate laboratory courses.
* demonstrate a minimal capacity for self-directed experimental planning and execution.
