The primary focus of this position is dealing with processes and projects associated with the LMF, Vacuum Degasser, Refractory and Casting Rolls. This is a hands-on position that will require working with Metallurgists, and operating personnel at various levels. Other responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, assisting with problem solving projects throughout the entire facility, handling customer issues, assisting Sales with complaints and inquiries, order set up and misc. duties. The opportunity to become Lab Supervisor may be available for the successful applicant. This position may require working weekends, holidays and overtime as needed.
Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science or related field
Proven technical and analytical abilities
Proven ability to develop and administer plant wide Quality Polices
Proven computer skills, especially using Microsoft Office
Proven experience with maintaining and operating Metallurgical Lab Equipment
Proven experience in LMF or Caster areas
Proven experience with SQL or other databases
Proven knowledge of Statistical Process Control Techniques
Proven knowledge of the mechanics of LMF and Caster
Proven experience with metallurgical examination of steel samples and failure analysis
Proven knowledge of SEM and Optical Microscopes with Automated Image Analyses
An understanding of and proven commitment to the Nucor values, such as honesty, work ethic and personal responsibility
