Enabling CGI scripts for Dynamic Web Content

CGI scripts are one means of generating html files on the fly. These generated
pages can take many different types of data from the requesting user, databases or the
system itself. Any programming language, compiled or scripted, can be used
to generate CGI scripts. The most common are Shell Scripts, Perl Scripts and
To enable your site to use CGI scripts, you must add these
commands to the .htaccess file in either the root of your site or the 'cgi-bin'
directory of your site. A separate application type line must be added for each
extension you use for your active content.
EXAMPLE: cgi and pl file extensions for active content
