Using the Scanners

Using the Scanners

The Scanners are located in ME1030, ME2028, ME2038, ME3021.
  • The current version of Acrobat Professional is installed on all ECN machines.

To Create an Image File:

Open an imaging program such as Microsoft Photo Editor or Microsoft Paint.  From the file menu select the option to "scan image".  The Scanner or Camera Wizard will pop up allowing  you to preview and change the scanner settings.  Once this is determined, simply click scan and the image will appear in the application allowing you to modify and save it.

To Create a PDF File:

Open Adobe Acrobat. From the file menu, select import and scan. This should bring up the Acrobat scanning plug-in. Simply ensure that the scanner is the device that is selected and click scan. This will then bring up the Scanner or Camera Wizard that will allow you to customize the scan that you want to do. Make any changes needed to the configuration and select scan. This will place the scanned document into Acrobat and allow you to save this as a PDF.

To Scan and OCR text into Word:

Open Microsoft Office Document Imaging. This can be found in the Start Menu in the Microsoft Office Tools folder. From the file menu, select Scan New Document. This will bring up the Scanner or Camera Wizard and prompt you to define the type of scan you want to do. Make any adjustments that are needed and click scan. This will send the Image into the Microsoft Office Document Imaging application. From within the Microsoft Office Document Imaging application, you can OCR the scan and send directly into word by selecting Send Text to Word from the file menu.
