Changing your Mail Host

Purdue E-Mail Services

E-mail Address Overview

All ECN students have several choices for the e-mail address they choose use, as well as where their e-mail will be forwarded. If you are a registered Purdue student and you have an ECN computer account, you may receive e-mail at any of the following sample addresses (substitute your login name for sample below):

  • sample@ecn.purdue.edu

  • You can use an e-mail address of this style if you have accounts on any machine within the schools of engineering. You may use this e-mail address for as long as you are an engineering student at Purdue.

  • sample@purdue.edu

  • This is called your "Career Account" e-mail address. You will have a Career Account for as long as you are affiliated with Purdue University. Information about setting up this account can be found here.

  • YourChoice@purdue.edu

  • ITaP allows users to create a mail alias to use as an advertised e-mail address. This is preferable option for many with a common last name or those with complicated logins. This is configured using the ITaP directory and is not set by default.

Although you can advertise any of these addresses, its STRONGLY suggested to simply use your @purdue.edu address or your @purdue.edu chosen mail alias.

At Purdue, you will have one mail drop. This means all of the valid e-mail addresses will funnel messages to a single location. Students most likely will use the MyMail system provided by ITaP. Faculty, Staff and Gradaute students have a few more options. ITaP offers Microsoft Exchange services for Faculty, Staff, Visiting Scholars and Graduate students with funding. The ME department provides and Mail server for Faculty, Staff and Visiting Scholars/Post Docs as well. The ME/ECN server does not have quotas whereas the ITaP servers impose a 1GB quota.
