Color Cube Sudoku combines two popular puzzles, traditional Sudoku and the Rubik’s Cube, into one comprehensive challenge for children eight and up. The game includes one black plastic display tray and nine color cubes, where each cube has four squares of color on every face, and every cube is unique. Players must figure out how to arrange the cubes so that each of the six colors appears only once in every row and column. Before they rearrange the cubes on the tray, children need to make observations and recognize any existing patterns in the given challenge. After generating ideas and planning their solution, children can keep rearranging the cubes until they complete the challenge. The instruction manual also offers Bonus Pattern Challenges if children have mastered basic gameplay. In these extra challenges, players place the cubes according to different rules, such as “No Diagonal,” where no color may occur twice in any diagonal line. Color Cube Sudoku encourages children to practice a variety of skills, including spatial and evidence-based reasoning, logical thinking, problem solving, and perseverance. The critical thinking skills exercised in this game are beneficial to young, inquiring minds!
