Marbleocity Mini Coaster

Lower Age: 9+
Price: $29.99
Year Added: 2017

Marbleocity’s Mini Coaster Maker Kit is a beginner roller coaster model kit for children ages nine and up that can be built in a couple of hours time. Included with the kit are 30 laser cut wood parts and a graphic novella that features the adventures of the Tinkineers Kelvin, Joule, and Iggy and explores the design of the real-world Dragon Coaster in New York. As children read through this story they will also learn about the physics behind roller coasters. This kit promotes engineering thinking and design as children learn about important engineering concepts, such as kinetic and potential energy and gear trains, and then implement those ideas by letting children build their own roller coaster model with the included parts and instructions at the end of the story. This kit connects real life building examples to important engineering and physics concepts to engage children in the process of learning, and then lets them play those concepts out in the real world to see how they’re applicable, even on a small scale!

      • “This kit promotes engineering thinking and design by having children construct a roller coaster out of laser-cut pieces. The construction process develops spatial skills; experimenting with the kit once built develops an understanding of the physics concepts that back real-world design.”
