GraviTrax Starter Set

Lower Age: 8+
Year Added: 2019

GraviTrax Starter Set is a marble run building game by Ravensburger, intended for ages 8 and up. The set contains over 120 pieces including base plates, tracks, basic and curved tiles, special tiles and colored magnetic balls, as well as an instruction manual, a construction plan booklet, and a challenge booklet. The instruction manual explains the purposes of the different pieces included and the meaning of the different symbols in the construction and task booklet. The construction booklet contains 9 different track layouts of 3 different difficulty levels. These tracks are explained in step-by-step visuals and are an excellent starting point for new players.

The task booklet contains 24 different tasks of 6 different difficulty levels. Each of these task tracks presents the player with a different challenge to solve. The tasks are correct heights, missing tracks, missing elements, and sequence. Each task category has 6 puzzles, each of a different difficulty ranging from easy to hard. The correct heights category requires the player to determine where and how high the height tiles must be placed. The missing tracks category requires the player to determine which tracks segments must connect to which tiles in order to complete the track. The missing elements category requires the player to determine the missing tile pieces. Lastly, the sequence task asks the player to try to determine the order in which the colored marbles will reach the end of the track. All of the tasks require the player to use critical and logical thinking skills to determine the solution to the challenge.

GraviTrax is a great game for those who want to freely build and those who want a challenge to test their problem solving skills. The player is encouraged to put the booklet aside and use their imagination and creative thinking and design skills to create their own track any way they choose. The pieces in the set are good quality and fit together easily and the directions are clear and easy to understand. The varying levels of difficulty, as well as the ability to freely build, make this set perfect for younger children as well as older children. All ages will enjoy building and seeing gravity in motion with GraviTrax!
