You Can Count on Me! Im Ziva Marie! introduces children to the concepts of engineering using a familiar, relatable context - a sister helping her little brother solve a problem. Ziva Marie and her brother, Charlie, discover a problem as they head out to feed the pigs: Charlie is not tall enough to reach over the pig fence! Rather than becoming discouraged, Ziva Marie decides to go out and solve the problem. She designs one solution so that she and Charlie can test it. However, the solution does not meet all of the required needs! Ziva Marie becomes inspired as she begins to redesign her solution. The book then goes on to explain what an engineer does by introducing new characters and explaining how they have benefited from the work of engineers. As children read about Ziva Marie, Charlie, and their new friends' adventures, they will gain the confidence to explore engineering more on their own!
