Sky Surfer Airplane Launcher by Pathfinders Design is a building kit for ages 14+ that comes with everything children need to create their own paper airplanes and launcher!
This kit comes with a variety of pieces including the wooden frame parts, rubber bands, foam inserts, paper to make airplanes with, decals, glue, and, of course, instructions. The instructions are very detailed and walk the user step-by-step through the construction process with both visual and written directions. The pieces are easy to assemble and the kit comes with sandpaper to use if the joints are a bit too snug. Once the launcher is complete and the glue has dried, children can launch their first airplane! The manual contains instructions for a variety of planes using paper, styrofoam, straws, and cardboard as materials. Children can test different types of craft on their launcher and see what happens. This kit is recommended for ages 14+ due its purpose of launching items, however, younger age groups can absolutely enjoy this set as long as they are sufficiently supervised to ensure their safety and the safety of those around them.
Sky Surfer Airplane Launcher encourages building and spatial reasoning skills as children assemble the launcher. Children build iterative design and creative and critical thinking skills while building and testing different types of planes. Children are encouraged to experiment and try new types of planes and materials. The manual also contains an excellent section discussing aerodynamics and how real airplanes function. Sky Surfer Airplane Launcher is an excellent building kit for children with an interest in planes!
