USI Team at National Student Solar Spectrograph Competition

The USI team was first up to present results from testing done on the spectrograph the previous two days. It was obvious they had well-organized, easy to follow visuals bolstered by strong deliveries from each team member.

The USI Team at the National Student Solar Spectrograph Competition<http://www.spacegrant.montana.edu/iris> began the final day of competition strong and ended it strong.

The USI team was first up to present results from testing done on the spectrograph the previous two days.  It was obvious they had well-organized, easy to follow visuals bolstered by strong deliveries from each team member.

The evening banquet had a large variety of awards, but the four key awards were: "Best Spectrograph Design," "Best Spectrograph Build," "Best Science Observations," and "Best Presentation of Results."

The last award of the evening was "Best Presentation of Results," and the team from USI was announced as the winner.  In addition to a plaque and a small solar telescope, the team wins $12,000 to be divided among the team members, and a travel award to view a NASA launch.

Please join me in congratulating USI team members Aaron Williams, Jesse Rhodes, Danielle Eckert and Luke Maurer competing in Montana, and team members Tanner Hayes, Eric McCord and David Bruce back at USI.
