Ravi Venkatesan

Ravi Venkatesan is the Unicef Special Respresentative for Young People; he is also the founder of the Global Alliance for Mass Entrepreneurship (GAME), a coalition which aims to create 10,000 local entrepreneurs in India and Africa by 2030. Former Chairman, Microsoft India - Ravi was responsible for Microsoft's marketing, operational and business development efforts in the country. Prior to joining Microsoft, Venkatesan worked for over seventeen years with Cummins Inc, a US-based designer, manufacturer and distributor of engines and related technologies. He served in various leadership capacities at Cummins including Chairman of Cummins India Limited and Managing Director of Tata Cummins Limited, a joint venture between Cummins Inc. and Tata Motors. Former Chairman of Bank of Baroda. Board Member at Rockefeller Foundation. Founder of Social Venture Partners India, a pan-India network of engaged philanthropists. Partner at Unitus Ventures, former Board member and Co-Chairman of Infosys Ltd., and also served on the Boards of AB Volvo, Thermax Ltd. and Harvard Business School. Author of bestseller "Conquering the Chaos- Win In India, Win Everywhere" published 2013 by Harvard Business Review. Ravi has a BSME from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (1985), an MSIE from Purdue University (1987) and a MBA from Harvard University (1992) where he was a Baker Scholar. Ravi was awarded Purdue University's Outstanding Industrial Engineer award in 2000 and the Distinguished Alumnus award by the Indian Institute of Technology in 2003.
