Purdue IE family comes together at 2013 Scholarship Banquet

On Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, Purdue Industrial Engineering alumni, students, parents, faculty and staff came together in the John Purdue Room in Marriott Hall to celebrate all things IE.  The reception and dinner was a great opportunity for all parts of the Purdue IE family to spend time together and get to know one another in a more casual atmosphere.2013 Scholarship Banquet

Student scholarship and fellowship recipients were recognized, as were the generous alums who made much of the student support possible.  More importantly, it was an opportunity for some of our support recipients and their alumni benefactors to meet face to face.

Faculty and staff members who had received honors over the course of the year were recognized, including Prof. Hong Wan, who received the 2013 James H. Green Outstanding Graduate Educator Award, and Prof. Yuehwern Yih, who received the 2013 A. Alan Pritsker Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award.

Alumnus Jim Savage (BSIE '72) provided the keynote address, reminiscing about his days as a young IE student, why he created a scholarship in honor of his late father, and the pride he gets in watching the successes of the many students who have received the Savage Scholarship.  IE senior Jessica Stahly also spoke to the gathering.

Keep Purdue IE in the loop!

We like to think of Purdue IE as one big extended family -- with about 8,000 members! It's tough to keeps tabs on so many people, so we'd like your help in keeping us all connected.

If you've changed jobs, had a new child, received a promotion or discovered that your next-door neighbor in Bugtussle, Nebraska is also a Purdue IE, drop us a note and/or photograph at: IEalumni@purdue.edu.

We'll feature these items in future issues of the Purdue IE Webletter!
