Degree Requirements

Courses selected for the non-thesis option are intended to provide depth of study in a particular area of interest. The curriculum is designed such that the student has broad selectivity over their coursework. Students are required to select at least 21 credit hours of coursework from IE courses, and are recommended to take at least 6 credit hours from a related area.

Credit Requirements for a Non-Thesis Professional Master's (PMP)  Degree

Have at least 30 total graduate credit hours, which must include:

  • 21 credit hours of IE course work; and,
  • 9 credit hours of Industry Capstone Project Courses

Plan of Study and Course Requirements for Professional Master's

A Plan of Study (POS) is required by the Graduate School for all graduate students. The POS functions to ensure a student has met all of their degree requirements prior to graduation. We recommend you file your POS in your second semester, but it must be submitted and fully approved before you begin the semester you intend to graduate (e.g. if you intend to graduate in my, you should submit it at the beginning of the prior December). A summary of POS information can be found below, but for step-by-step instructions on completing the POS, please see appendix B of the handbook.
