Lee Chaden

Lee A. Chaden serves on the board of directors for Hanesbrands Inc. and R. R. Donnelley & Sons Company. He is the retired chief executive officer of the Branded Apparel Division (Worldwide) at Sara Lee Corporation, one of the world's leading branded consumer package good companies. Lee spent the bulk of the 1990s as Sara Lee's CEO for branded apparel (Europe), based out of the Rome and Paris offices. His movement through the Sara Lee ranks also included positions as the North American president of Playtex Apparel Inc.; senior vice president-human resources; executive vice president for global marketing and sales; president and CEO of Sara Lee Intimates; and vice president, senior vice president, and executive vice president of the entire corporation. Lee began his career with Procter & Gamble in 1966 in brand management and joined Playtex's apparel division in 1970 as senior product manager. He also served in various marketing and general management positions for Playtex for several years, both in North America and Europe, until he joined Sara Lee in 1991 when the company acquired Playtex. In addition to his bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Purdue, Lee holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of California at Berkeley.
