A student may wish to repeat a course due to prior failure, or to improve a previous passing grade to increase their GPA. Some considerations when repeating a class are worth discussing.
1. Registering for a course previously taken
In nearly all cases and IE student would encounter, they cannot simply re-register for a course they have previously taken during open registration without approval from their academic advisor. Most courses are set-up in the myPurdue system to be taken once. Therefore, you should check with the IE undergraduate advising office prior to attempting to register so that you can have the proper override(s) provided such that the registration process is smooth.
2. Impact on GPA
When a student retakes a course, the last grade earned for the course in question is recorded in the cumulative GPA.
