The Phelps Grant for ICOPS Minicourse Expenses
The 2011 Paul Phelps Continuing Education Grant will be awarded to two students attending the ICOPS special one-day minicourse on “Fundamentals of Plasma Material Interactions (PMI) for Fusion and Industrial Applications”. The course will be offered on Saturday June 25th at the ICOPS-SOFE Conference Venue Hotel (Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, Chicago). A group of international experts from academia and national laboratories will provide a set of comprehensive lectures on plasma material interactions and their applications.
The purpose of the Phelps Grant is to promote continuing education and encourage membership in the Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society (NPSS). Please note that the award is restricted to NPSS student members and NPSS members changing careers. The award will cover up to a maximum of $500 of the costs associated with attending this minicourse (e.g., course registration fee, hotel cost, etc). Applicants should submit one-paragraph justifications of why they feel the course will benefit them and why they need the support to firstname.lastname@example.org by 1 June 2011. (Later applications also may be considered, if funds remain.)
