October of 2025 was a big month for Purdue Univeristy, with Homecoming and the grand re-opening of the newly renovated Mechanical Engineering building on the 24th and the Industrial Advisory Committee (IAC) Meeting at Ray W. Herrick Labs on the 30th and 31st.

The Industrial Advisory Committee (IAC) is comprised of high-level executives and managers from a variety of industries closely connected to Herrick Labs. The committee meets annually to review the Lab's previous year's operations and advises the faculty and Director on future plans. This is also the opportunity for the committee to facilitate research partnerships between industry and the Laboratories.

Partnerships between Industry and the Labs are forged through many ways, one of which is through touring the Student Poster Show. The poster show is a highlight of the annual meeting, both for IAC member and the Herrick Community alike.

There was a record number of submissions on display this year, truly demonstrating the tenacity of our students. Each student had the opportunity to present their research to and conduct one-on-one discussions with key individuals in the field. This is an ideal approach, benefiting our students as well as the companies for which our IAC members represent--students may secure future internship/careers and companies gain access to cutting-edge research being conducted by world-class researchers--and future employees!
