Students were challenged to build a BUV (Basic Design Vehicle) that could transport water in two 55 gallon steel drums, loaded on site from a pond.   They were judged on the number of laps completed on a muddy course in a soybean field, and a trail through a wooded area with hills and obstacles. This was an all day endurance event.

Students from the GDT will now travel to Cameroon  in May 2012 to recreate this same BUV using materials readily available in the country so it can be easily reproduced and maintained. The international partner, The African Centre for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Technology (ACREST), is located in Bangang, Cameroon and aims to promote appropriate technology and renewable energy technologies to improve living conditions of the population they serve.
