Clairmont L. Clementson received his BEng degree in mechanical engineering in 1998 from the University of Guyana, Turkeyen, Guyana, and his master’s degree in agricultural engineering in 2006 from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. In 2010, he earned his PhD in agricultural engineering from Purdue, where he also was a postdoctoral researcher in Agricultural and Biological Engineering. He currently is the laboratory manager for Purdue’s Center for Particulate Products and Processes (CP3), where he trains students on equipment, maintains the lab, works on research projects, and ensures that the lab meets all safety requirements. He is involved with the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), Minorities in Agriculture, and Natural Resources and Related Sciences (MANRRS). He worked as a research scientist in the Guyana Ministry of Agriculture and was a lecturer for the Government Technical Institute, University of Southern Caribbean, and University of Guyana. For many years, he has tutored, mentored and advised undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students and has experience in engaging with industry and academic professionals. His research focuses on a sustainable waste management systems approach to transform waste or renewable materials into useful bioproducts. As an educator, he plans to develop a general course in sustainable waste management to prepare engineers for future sustainable and environmental management challenges.
