Introduction to Research

Welcome to the Introduction to Research Modules for the Purdue SURF program.  These modules have been created to give you a foundation on which to begin your research experience.  Even if you have worked on a research project previously, you may find useful information contained within.

Below are the links for each module.  While they do not need to be done in order, it is recommended that you do so.  At the end of each module, there will be a brief quiz to complete and submit.

As part of the SURF program, all participants  are required to complete the following RCR modules. These modules are provided by the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Program, a subscription service providing research ethics education to all members of the research community. After you complete modules required for your research areas, print out the gradebook page and submit it to your Blackboard "CITI Certificate" assignment  (On Blackboard, to access the submission page, click “CITI Assignment” under “Course Information and Activities”)

In order to access the modules, you will need to create an account on the CITI website. Follow these instructions to create an account.
