Melissa Adrian received her PhD in Statistics from the University of Chicago in 2025, advised by Dr. Rebecca Willett. Her graduate work involved integrating machine learning into data assimilation algorithms and developing methods for stable model selection. As a postdoctoral researcher at Purdue University co-advised by Dr. Romit Maulik and Dr. Wen-wen Tung, she is working to integrate generative models into large-scale atmospheric data assimilation processes to expedite uncertainty quantification. Her research interests lie at the intersection of machine learning and data assimilation for high-dimensional physical systems.
