Peter Bermel

Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering

Peter Bermel received a B.S. in physics with highest honors from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 2000, an M.Phil. in physics from Cambridge University in 2002, and a Ph.D. in physics from MIT in 2007.

Bermel’s research is in the area of nanophotonics. His work is targeted toward the development of new concepts and devices in both energy-related areas, such as thermophotovoltaics and photovoltaics, along with other related research areas, such as heat transfer and optical signal processing. He has served previously as a research scientist and postdoctoral associate in the Research Laboratory of Electronics at MIT.
