Abigail Engelberth

Assistant Professor of Agricultural and Biological Engineering and Environmental and Ecological Engineering

Abby Engelberth earned her PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Arkansas in 2009. Before joining the faculty at Purdue she was a postdoctoral researcher with the Forest Bio-products Research Institute in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of Maine.

Her postdoctoral research studied process simulation of the conversion of a hemicellulose-rich pre-pulping extract into drop-in transportation fuels. Her research interests include separation and purification of value-added co-products from the production of fuels from renewable resources and the subsequent modeling of the separation processes for an integrated bio-refinery.
