Jun Chen
Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering
Dr. Jun Chen received his B.S. and M.S. in aerospace engineering from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He obtained Ph.D degree in mechanical engineering from Johns Hopkins University. After that he was a postdoctoral research associate in the Condensed Matter and Thermal Physics Group and Center for Nonlinear Studies of Los Alamos National Laboratory. He developed a series of laboratory experiments with his colleagues to investigate the small scale mixing and structures of ocean currents and used the discovery to validate and improve ocean modeling.
Dr. Chen's research interests are in the area of experimental fluid dynamics, including development of flow diagnostic techniques, measurements and modeling of various engineering and environmental flows, and the small scale dynamics and structures in stratified environment.
